Herzog Foundation Hosts Briefing on War in Israel with IDF Veteran Uri Goldflam

The Herzog Foundation hosted a briefing on the war in Israel on Thursday evening. The briefing was led by Uri Goldflam, a veteran of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) who works as a tour guide in Israel.

Goldflam has 30 years of experience in the field of Israel education, and educational tourism. “Showcasing Israel and traveling through the country is my passion,” Goldflam has said many times to visitors from abroad. During his time in the IDF, Uri served as a combat platoon sergeant in a paratrooper unit. He continued to serve in the IDF’s Paratrooper Reserves for 20 years.

Goldflam is currently on a speaking tour in the Midwest to update Americans on current conditions in Israel. At the Herzog Foundation’s briefing, Goldflam did not mince details of the horrific acts committed by Hamas terrorists since the war broke out on October 7.

“I debated for a long time whether I should share these graphic details and photos tonight,” Goldflam said. “But there are people who believe these events did not occur. They believe it’s all made up, despite photo and video evidence released by Hamas terrorists themselves.”

Misinformation on the war in Israel is running rampant in the U.S., particularly on college campuses. Goldflam says the lack of support for Israel among young Americans is not surprising.

In a poll published by Quinnipiac University, respondents were asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Israel is responding to the October 7th Hamas terrorist attack?” Only 32% of respondents aged 18-34 approved of Israel’s response, as opposed to about 58% of those aged 50 and older.

“They’re gravely misinformed,” Goldflam said. “When your children come home from college next week, please talk to them. They don’t know anything about this conflict or the history.”

The Herzog Foundation’s online news publication, “The Lion,” will continue to cover the U.S. response to the war in Israel. Subscribe today at ReadLion.com.
