Andrew Snelling

Head Coach

Dr. Andrew Snelling is a geologist with a PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia. He is the Director of Research at Answers in Genesis and the Editor-in-Chief of the online Answers Research Journal. From a young age, Snelling developed a strong interest in geology after his conversion to Christianity. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in applied geology and worked in the exploration and mining industries before joining the Creation Science Foundation of Australia. He later became a professor of geology at the Institute for Creation Research in California.

Snelling has conducted extensive research on topics such as the flood, fossils, the Grand Canyon, and the radioactive dating of rocks. He has led tours to various geological sites and has been involved in research projects funded by organizations like the US Department of Energy and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization. His research findings have been published in scientific journals and books.

Snelling’s work has focused on demonstrating that the global Genesis flood, which occurred approximately 4,300 years ago, can explain many rock layers and fossil deposits found around the world. He has challenged the reliability of radioactive dating methods for determining the age of rocks and has investigated topics such as radiohaloes, meteorite dating, and radiocarbon dating in archaeological contexts.

In his personal life, Snelling is married to Kym and they reside in Northern Kentucky, USA. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren. Snelling is passionate about cricket and enjoys Australian roast lamb dinners.
