Studio Internship

Overview: 

The Lion is offering one studio internship for the summer of 2026, based in Smithville, MO – just north of Kansas City and 15 miles from the airport. This will be an eight-week program (June and July 2026) with provided housing and a stipend. The internship offers mentorship from long-time radio host Chris Stigall, who hosts a daily morning show in our state-of-the-art studio, tangible production skills from a qualified studio team and a week trip to Washington D.C. for America’s 250th birthday celebration. Applicants should align with the mission of the Herzog Foundation and support the work of The Lion – an online publication that covers various issues facing American families, culture and education. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Early morning, multi-hour radio show assistance 
• Production and editing work 
• Working with an editorial calendar 
• B-Roll and filming  
• Accept constructive feedback 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Radio and broadcasting experience, especially in production 
• Curious reporter-mindset  
• Willingness to learn and grow  
• Ability to meet deadlines 
• Work well in a team environment 
• Ability to quickly learn and use common studio tools 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• College upperclassmen entering their junior or senior year 
• Deadline-driven media experience 
• Understanding of the Christian and education content and marketing spaces 
• Experience with Adobe and other common studio tools 
• An understanding of best practices in SEO and social media marketing
