Job Summary:

The Herzog Foundation is seeking a Development Assistant to work in coordination with the Chief Development Officer (CDO), 3-4 Major Gift Officers (MGO), and the broader Foundation staff to rapidly grow its fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and stewardship capabilities.

The successful candidate will have an interest in fundraising, operations, and building relationships with those who support our mission. The candidate will be highly organized; will have superb written and oral communication skills, strong research skills, and great attention to detail; will possess the ability to manage multiple deadlines; and is committed to achieving results. This individual must be able to work with a team and independently.

The ideal candidate must have a commitment to advancing private Christian education.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

DONOR OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Support cultivation with individuals, foundations, and corporations including mailed materials, emails, and phone calls
  • Create and send acknowledgement letters/tax receipts and make acknowledgement phone calls
  • Help draft grant proposals, reports, and letters of interest to foundations and businesses
  • Work with the communications team to draft written and designed donor-centric materials
  • Help coordinate the creation of the quarterly development newsletter – including working with all departments to meet deadlines
  • Help prepare personalized mailings from Major Gift Officers to donors in their portfolios
  • Track development-wide materials (letterhead, collateral, etc.) so they are available and updated for MGOs at all time

RESEARCH AND PREPARATION:

  • Conduct research for donors and prospects and identify alignment to Herzog Foundation program areas
  • Help prepare meeting materials in coordination with Major Gift Officers

RECORD ORGANIZATION AND GIFT PROCESSING:

  • Support systems around donor data and record-keeping in Salesforce
  • Manage reports and contact lists by ensuring accurate and current information and appropriately segmenting data
  • Monitor online donations and process physical check donations in coordination with finance, informing CDO of all incoming donations

SPECIAL PROJECTS:

  • Help with the planning and execution of small to large-scale donor cultivation events, in coordination with CDO; available to be on-site during events
  • Help create processes and standard operating procedures within development office to improve efficiency
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree; preferred 1-3 years nonprofit experience
  • Excellent organizational, listening, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, juggle various projects, and maintain a variety of responsibilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn and respond intelligently to changing scenarios
  • Proficiency in computer and database software including Microsoft Office; Salesforce or other CRM experience preferred, as well as other internet skills and proficiencies
  • Experience producing print and electronic communications
  • A willingness to perform administrative functions and provide support wherever needed

Salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
